Giorgio Armani, Lanvin, Cerruti, Moschino, Longchamps . . . these are the designer fashion labels which commission their scarves from our new designers in the heart of Italy’s pure silk foulard industry, Lake Como. These designers are devoted entirely to creating new collections, designs and colourways for their major haute couture fashion house clients—and so we are delighted to have arranged for our Members to enjoy the work of these haute couture designers in Como—starting with the stunning Annata Cavaliere series of equestrian silk squares.
We all know how important a good silk square can be. They pull together an outfit and update your wardrobe in an instant. The Annata Cavaliere series are beautifully crafted in woven silk twill, which combines strength with lustre, drape, durability and a texture which makes the colours play with light and gives an elegant glow to the finish. In technical terms, this silk twill is 14 momme—the heaviest weight and highest quality to still guarantee that the printing will give a sharp picture on both sides, so that the scarf is reversible. The scarf is then finished with that ultimate mark of quality, hand-rolling and hand-stitching of the hems—one seamstress can roll about seven scarves a day.
The Italians are of course as equine-focused as the British and French, and the Annata Cavaliere designs are rooted in equestrian history. They are bold yet refined, the colours beautifully Italian, richly shaded, subtle and harmonising. The squares are so versatile they look equally good in town and country to adorn a hairstyle, frame your face, update a look and add the perfect splash of colour to your style, with silk shirts, classic shifts, cashmere or tweeds. All are beautiful Italian silk foulards, direct from Lake Como and without the eyewatering price tag!
