This deliciously ripe, rounded and complex white Burgundy is from Igé, one of the Mâconnais’ top villages. ‘Château London’ is the specific vineyard or ‘lieu-dit’ of the grapes, which, unusually, are not pure Chardonnay but a clone of Chardonnay, Chardonnay-Muscaté, which gives the typical structure, poise and freshness of Chardonnay together with the aromatic expression of Muscat.

Ripe fruit perfumes characterise this golden wine, with a touch of oak and lovely mineral acidity on the finish. The wine is round with delicious fruit concentration on the palate, glorious flavours of lemon, pineapple, pear and apple, lifted by fresh acidity. The finish is long and lively. It’s a real find, made by Grégory Patriat, one of the best viticulturalists and winemakers of his generation in Burgundy.
Unlike other Burgundian négociants, Grégory specialises in making wines from ‘lieu-dits’ or tiny plots of vines, something which accounts for the limited production of his wines.

This gorgeous wine pairs beautifully with lobster, Dover sole and turbot, partridge and pears, chicken, turkey and creamy fish dishes with pasta and potatoes. The Club Tasting Panel’s view: ‘It’s a must; have this in your cellar to enjoy with your favourite people!’
