90/100 – Decanter World Wine Awards

Corinne Perchaud’s award-winning wines are elegant, intense and nervy, with superb definition and an excellent capacity for ageing. This 2019 Chablis has won great praise from the connoisseurs, including those at Decanter awarding 90/100 at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards. The Decanter judges noted, ‘Delicate apple, flint and blossom. Good underlying richness, with nice backbone and structure. Briny minerality with a long, textured finish.’

The Perchaud Chablis vines are mainly located in the village of Fleys. The steep, north to north-west facing vineyards have a surface area of 18 hectares and the soil is the typical Kimmeridgian soil of Chablis: chalky clay with some marl. The double Guyot-trained vines are 25 years old on average. Corinne and Jean-Pierre avoid using chemical pesticides, choosing sustainable methods which are better for the environment and working the soils throughout the year to avoid using chemical fertilisers.

The Club Tasting Panel are impressed by this 2019, which is a standout vintage, calling it ‘expressive and vivacious’. It has ‘intense fruity aromas with good minerality and a lively acidity on the palate. It is well balanced, with great aromatic purity and roundness.’

The wine is a perfect pairing for the delicate flavours of lobster, scallops, oysters, Dover sole, chicken and more. It is beautifully lifted on the nose, concentrated and elegant on the palate with a lovely balance of ripe white fruits and the classic mineral quality which characterises good Chablis. The Club Tasting Panel recommend it highly.
