A stunning New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc to rank with any: only £159 per case of 12 bottles delivered: currently unavailable
Peter and Jane Clark’s premium single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is bright, crisp, youthful and green with pleasing fruitiness, balanced by crisp acidity, a rich and creamy texture, the distinctive mineral tones of Marlborough’s Awatere River, and a long, dry finish. This is a super example of what New Zealand does best, Sauvignon Blanc.
The Clarks established their vineyard from scratch in 1998, planting eight hectares of Sauvignon Blanc next to the Awatere River at its confluence with Black Birch Stream. They run their vineyard as a family, doing most of the work themselves: their attitude is summed up on the their coat of arms: ‘Arte et Marte’ (‘With Skill and Fighting’).
Aromas of gooseberry, citrus and grapefruit. Match with barbecued prawns in lemon and garlic oil, tuna tataki, giat’s cheese and salads, particularly asparagus.
In a sea of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Clark Estate is an island of incredible quality, blending typically bright, gooseberry-infused character with wonderful balance and texture.
