Dramatically situated at 500 metres above sea level on the eastern slopes of Mount Etna, below Zafferana Etnea, the Baron’s estate not only enjoys incredible panoramic views but a very different climate to the typical Sicilian unrelenting heat. Altitude adds cool night temperatures to sun-soaked Sicilian days, lending wonderful freshness and aromatic complexity to the red fruit and strawberry notes, while Etna’s volcanic soils result in distinct mineral character. It has a unique identity which differs from the Italian and international enological range.
This is a delightful wine, an antique rose colour with ruby hints, with notes of strawberry and red fruit, its style elegant, fresh and fruity with moderate tannins, a dry and complex finish and persistent length. Drink up to four years after release. It is a perfect match for fresh pasta with tomato sauce, Neapolitan pizza and swordfish, as well as other fish and Asian dishes.
