Top 20: Domaine Tollot-Beaut, Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru `Les Fournières` 2016: case of 12 bottles: vintage sold out

£597.00

90/100 Neal Martin

We are sorry to say that this vintage is now sold out. More wines from Tollot-Beaut are expected in the Club Cellar soon.

A prestigious name in Burgundy, with this vintage selling at £75 a bottle (though for our Members there is of course an advantageous price). The Tollot family represent a long lineage of winegrowers dating back to the 1880s when François Tollot began planting vineyards in Chorey-lès-Beaune. The wines of Tollot-Beaut are well-known for their serious but pleasing style. The hallmark of their wines is a striking purity of fruit—a truly succulent quality supported (but never dominated) by judicious use of oak. Writes Neal Martin MW, ‘Pure, quite sumptuous red cherry and strawberry fruit, maybe obvious to some but just the right side of hedonistic for me. The palate is medium-bodied with a rounded and smooth opening, with a caresses pain d’épices and crushed strawberry finish. There is just a little warmth on the back of the throat.’ Case of 12 bottles.

RRP £900. CCUK £597.
