The famous Alter Ego de Palmer, second wine of Margaux Third Growth Château Palmer,  is a supple, rounded fine Bordeaux. Distinguished by freshness of fruit, crisp intensity and richness, from the moment it leaves the barrel, it’s all that’s natural, bottled.

First released in 1998, Alter Ego is created to be equally terroir-driven and expressive as the grand vin, but supple, rounded and more approachable in youth. It is drinking beautifully now.

Notes Neal Martin, RobertParker.com: ‘The 2013 Alter Ego de Palmer is a blend of 46% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot. It has a well-defined bouquet with quite vivacious, lush red and black fruit, hints of cassis and iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity.’
Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast: ‘Light and fruity, this wine has attractive acidity and layers of red berry fruits. The silky tannins are present, although light and dominated by the fruitiness of the wine.’

The Vinous wine critic adds: ‘A juicy, succulent wine, the Alter Ego offers lovely up-front fruit married to the bright, lively acidity of the year. Red cherry jam, raspberries, white flowers and spices. Sweet floral notes reappear on the lifted finish. This is a very pretty, feminine wine with plenty of appeal. There is a lot to like.’
