This stunning 2019 Lalande de Pomerol is a star wine, the like of which one seldom sees at this price. Its vineyards march with those of world-famous Château Pétrus, and the critics are loud in their praise. The wine is the 2019 Château de Chambrun, and we are delighted to have secured even a limited allocation of six-bottle cases for our Members at an exclusive advantageous Club price.

Writes Adrian van Velsen: ‘The nose almost jumps out of the glass, spicy, floral, mint and violets, followed by cherries, plums, a touch of mocha, exciting. Accessible and soft on the palate, the wine has melting, opulence, shows a lot of charm and, thanks to fine tannins, does not appear sticky, but rather racy. It’s enjoyable now and will still mature.Drink 2023-2033.’

Roger Voss, of Wine Enthusiast. notes: ‘An elegant wine, balancing juicy black fruits from Merlot with rich tannins. The wine’s structure and impressive balance are already apparent, promising plenty of ageing potential.’

Andreas Larsson: “Dark garnet with a purple hue. Pure nose offering wild berries, ripe plum, mild oak and some floral notes. The palate is supple and rounded with good volume, elegant fruit with a fresh acidity underneath, balanced oak and a long rounded finish.’

Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider: ‘Flowers, roasted cherries, Asian spice and wet earth aromas get your attention. The wine is medium-bodied, soft, refined and already a pleasure to drink, finishing with loads of sweet, ripe, pure, fresh, polished plums. Drink from 2022-2032.’

This star wine comes from a small 6.8-hectare vineyard planted on the quartz, gravel, clay and limestone soil synonymous with Pomerol. A classic blend of 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, it is an incredible wine which represents some of the most outstanding winemaking in the Pomerol satellite. It is drinking beautifully now, and will cellar for up to 15 years. This wine is especially delicious with rosemary-encrusted beef and lamb. It is highly recommended by the Club Tasting Panel, who urge Members not to miss this fabulous wine, especially at the eyewateringly good Club price!
