Château de Chambrun 2011: case of 12 bottles delivered: sold out, see new vintage
This stunning 2011 Lalande de Pomerol is a star wine, the like of which one seldom sees at this price. Its vineyards march with those of world-famous Château Pétrus, and Robert Parker, the supreme Bordeaux connoisseur, awarded this wine an exceedingly high 90 points and pronounced it ‘sensational’. The wine is the 2011 Château de Chambrun, and we are delighted to have secured even a limited allocation of 12-bottle cases for our Members—and at the exclusive Club price of only £297 delivered, instead of £528 (even in France, it is up to 50€ per bottle).
Writes Robert Parker, ‘A big-time sleeper of the vintage from proprietor Silvio Denz, this sensational 2011 transcends the vintage as well as the reputation of the appellation. It exhibits a dense ruby/purple color along with plenty of chocolaty berry fruit and a plump, full-bodied, opulent, layered style. This is about as good as a Lalande de Pomerol can be. Drink it over the next 6-8 years.’ 90 points,
Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, April 2014.
This star wine comes from a small 6.8-hectare vineyard planted on the quartz, gravel, clay and limestone soil synonymous with Pomerol. A classic blend of 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, it is an incredible wine which represents some of the most outstanding winemaking in the Pomerol satellite. It is drinking beautifully now, and will cellar for up to 15 years. This wine is especially delicious with rosemary-encrusted beef (perfect with the Côtes-de-Boeuf below), and lamb. It is highly recommended by the Club Tasting Panel, who urge Members not to miss this fabulous wine, especially at the eyewateringly good, unmissable Club price!
