Château Latour 2003: opulent, full-bodied, the ‘sexiest Latour since the 61′: The greatest Bordeaux at exclusive Members’ price: vintage sold out

£790.00

Perhaps the grandest of the First Growths, Château Latour is magnificent, exceptional wine and the 2003 is hailed by Robert M Parker Jr as ‘undeniably the most sumptuous, opulent wine made here since the 1982 or 1961’.

First Growth Château Latour is grand, bold and impressive even when young, but given at least 10 years of bottle age, it becomes magnificent. Situated in the same commune (Pauillac) as fellow First Growths Lafite and Mouton, Latour stands out as the most powerful of the three, capable of astonishing even after decades. A truly great wine.

Write Berry Bros & Rudd: ‘This 2003 Ch. Latour is more than great, and quintessential Latour. The nose is rich and pure Pauillac. In the mouth the ripeness really shines through. The wine builds and builds, the volume of flavour is outstanding but all kept in check by a beautiful structure. The wine is complete and now beautifully integrated with an endless finish. Of course, this icon will age almost indefinitely but has the balance to give some much pleasure now. If you love Latour, your cellar is not complete without this.’

Wine Advocate (Robert M Parker Jr) scored this wine 100/100 points (review below).
