Jean-Claude Boisset
Jean-Claude Boisset opened his operations in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the former Ursuline convent. Here, in this solid building constructed in Burgundian stone, the Ursuline nuns forced to flee the revolution and left behind something of their spirit. In its large enclosed garden, among the rows of apple trees, pruning yews, boxwood, and other fruit trees, you can still almost hear their murmurs in the silence.
In the labyrinthine cellars and Mother Superior’s quarters – with their attentive view of the Côte and proximity to Premiers Crus – the sense of peace and serenity is palpable. This place, steeped in prayer, calm and, as is often the case here, an intangible sense of mystery, has become our ‘home’.
The company’s philosophy can be summed up in three words: origins, purity and elegance. Origins: the representation of terroir in its original form. It also evokes the origins of the appellations that are part of the history of Jean-Claude Boisset. Purity: the pure forms of ‘real’ wines, the fruits of the earth. A purity of taste, in an unadulterated form, without oenological additions. Elegance: a modern style, but rooted in change and up-to-date. Pure distinctiveness.
