Decanter World Wine Awards 2024: Silver Medal winner, delicious Blanco de Corte Riesling Torrontes 2023 from the heights of Salta, Argentina, 93/100 points: case of six bottles delivered

Founded in 1831 in the Calchaquí Valley in Salta, at a staggering elevation of 1,828 metres, the Hess Family Wine Estates now run Amalaya with the same dedication and finesse as they do Bodega Colomé (another of our Club Tasting Panel’s highly recommended wines from Argentina).

Note the Decanter judges: ‘Fragrant on the nose, with tropical and citrus fruit, touches of herbs and flower aromas. Delicious and well made.’

It is indeed delicious with its 85% Torrontes blended with 15% Riesling, all from very high altitude vineyards. Attractive perfumed, floral and grapey nose with peach, apricot and lime.

It’s a lovely aperitif, and matches well with delicate and gently spiced shellfish, such as crab and chilli pasta sauce, Thai fish soup and more.
