Rich and opulent, Pieropan ‘La Rocca’ is rightly renowned as the finest of all Soave wines—and one which you will ind in the august cellars of the Michelin Star Ritz Restaurant. It is delicious—a silky, textured and complex white from the Veneto in north-east Italy.

The Decanter World Wine Awards judges note: ‘Vanilla and tropical fruit with mango, melon, peach, floral. Intense, rich, intense. good and fresh aftertaste with mineral character.’

Pieropan are a top producer in Soave. Their wines express the full potential of the Garganega grape. This wine is from grapes grown in their La Rocca vineyard, which has a local microclimate which helps produce wines with a distinctive perfume and unique character, great personality and unique characteristics. After fermentation in a mix of stainless steel and 500 litre oaks casks, part is further aged in oak for a year before bottling. A golden yellow in the glass it’s full of exotic fruit and nutty aromas which follow to the palate, which has a real elegance and balance. The hints of spice and minerally backbone at the lengthy end give it a satisfying finish. It is 100% organic.

‘La Rocca’ has legendary keeping qualities. Perfect with smoked salmon, with black truffles in a creamy sauce, and so much else. It makes an excellent partner to complex dishes, even with strong flavours, typically good with chicken, guinea fowl, pork in rich sauces, cheese, seafood and pasta. Serve at 12-14°C.
