This Château Lamothe-Bouscaut 2018 is a real find—it’s superb, a beautifully restrained, classy Bordeaux. It is drinking well already, and will continue to do so over the next decade or more.
Dark purple in colour, it has complex aromas of blackcurrant, mulberry, white pepper and vine leaves. Full-bodied, with robust spicy tannins and excellent concentration of dense black and blue jammy fruit, cassis and black cherries, it offers a rich complexity and dark chocolate overtones.
Situated in the village of Cadaujac, 200 metres from the famed Château Bouscaut, Lamothe-Bouscaut is an old wine estate owned by Sophie Lurton and Laurent Cogombles. The house dates back to the 12th century. The Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vines grown on these deep, gravelly soils are on average 35 years old, and the vineyard is managed sustainably.
Surprisingly approachable for its age, this wine is ripe, lush, generous and a beautiful example of a modern Bordeaux. The Club Tasting Panel highly recommend this delicious wine to our Members, particularly at our exclusive advantageous price.
