Fox & Chave Monet Poplars Silk Tie: best price for this dreamy pure silk tie inspired by the Impressionist masterpiece depicting the River Epte, Giverny: high quality silk, hand finished

£23.00

A work of art, this dreamy silk tie of pale blues and a subtle hint of greens is after a masterpiece by Claude Monet, who created a celebrated series of paintings of poplar trees lining the River Epte, near his home in Giverny.

Monet made the series between spring and autumn 1891, the year after he had settled in Giverny. The trees were about to be felled for timber, but Monet bought them in partnership with a timber merchant, so that he could continue to paint them.

Monet used a boat as a floating studio to capture the shimmering effects of sunlight on water. This beautifully repeating pattern depicts a detail from the painting, now in the collection of the National Galleries of Scotland. Its colours shade from summer sky to dappled water and pale luminosity, with a hint of reflected leaves.

High quality silk, hand finished.
