Shepper fleece gilet by Aigle: excellent kit, comfortable, warm and smart: green bronze

£79.50

We have tried and tested several fleece gilets—and this new style by the French brand Aigle is a winner. Named the New Shepper Fleece Gilet, it is extremely well made and finished, so that it feels beautifully soft and comfortable, gives warmth without weight, is highly breathable, has enough substance for winter, is water-resistant, works brilliantly all year round, is easy-care, and will last and last. It is extremely well made in thick, water-resistant Polartec Thermal Pro 300 fleece which gives it extra warmth and weather protection—caught in a shower, it will keep you warm and dry until you can shelter, and in cold, windy weather it’s beautifully warm.

The stand-up collar is high and thick to keep your neck warm and cosy, no matter what the weather. The outer has a smooth and thick hand feel, with a luxurious finish and leatherette piping for a smarter look. The interior is thick ‘sheepskin’ fleece at the back, with an extra front lining and a deep interior pocket with Velcro fastening, to keep your wallet, paperwork or shooting certificate safe and dry. There are also two deep front zipped pockets to keep your hands warm, or for safe keeping of your belongings.

This is the perfect fleece gilet for wearing over a shirt or sweater, or under a waterproof jacket for an added layer of warmth and comfort. It’s great for shooting, riding, working the dogs, walking, driving, gardening, pretty much everything you can think of—and it’s so easy to machine wash and quick to dry.

Aigle quality and style are renowned—their handmade wellington boots we featured recently really are a cut above—and so is the New Shepper. It is made in Portugal in Green Bronze. Sizes, M-XXL (38in to 50in chest).
