The herringbone pattern, one of the simplest yet most popular modern twills, mimics the skeleton of the fish to create a rich, textured look. Here it is, beautifully tailored by Magee of Donegal in Irish lambswool in shades of green and brown with a faint blue overcheck.

It is medium weight at 360g (12½oz), and has hand stitching on the lapels and the brown satin lining—hallmarked of a well-tailored jacket.
