Tootal silk scarf: best price for the classically elegant silk aviator scarf: elegant original design, the Cooper paisley in burnt orange and grey

£33.00

Gold standard for RAF pilots in the Thirties, the original silk Tootal scarf is well and truly back on the runway, and an all-time favourite. Tootal is one of England’s oldest brands, its history a sign of changing times. Founded in Manchester in 1799 by textile merchant Robert Gardner, the company’s distinctive paisley and polka-dot scarves became a key fashion accessory in World War Two, forever associated with the ‘RAF officer look’. In the Sixties the Tootal silk scarves were adopted by the Mods, in the Nineties by exponents of Britpop—and now they have become the accessory of choice in sartorially conscious ‘Gentlemen’s London’ and the pages of GQ magazine, as well as in the CountryClubuk Gentlemen’s Wardrobe.

We love this scarf because, not only is it smart and elegant, going beautifully with jackets, coats or shirts and waistcoats, it has a very soft, silky drape which ties easily and hangs well, and it is comfortable and light enough to wear in every season. Tootal returned to their pattern archive to produce this new range of scarves in limited editions, starting with this, the genuine vintage ‘Cooper’ in burnt orange and grey.

The scarf is double sided, 100% high-quality lightweight silk, with hand-tied fringing and the Tootal tab logo. Dimensions are 26cm wide x 155cm long (10in by just over 5ft).

RRP £50 plus delivery. CCUK £33 including free UK mainland delivery.
