The Glorious Twelfth is only days away and, with it, the first young wild red grouse from the Yorkshire moors – the true harvest of the heather.

These properly wild, naturally organic birds are still the finest-flavoured game we have. As always, London’s leading restaurants will be competing hard for the early bags, so we are opening the Members’ list now to secure a supply.

We will offer the young birds New York-dressed and oven-ready in boxes of 10, at the same advantageous price arranged in previous seasons.

The Glorious Twelfth marks the real beginning of the sporting year, and with it comes the first young wild red grouse from the Yorkshire moors.

Early reports from the moors are encouraging, with strong brood counts on many well-managed English moors and a welcome recovery after the leaner seasons of the last two seasons.

These are the genuine harvest of the heather: wild-bred, naturally organic, never medicated, and still regarded by many as the finest-flavoured game bird of all. Their diet of young heather shoots gives them a rich, distinctive taste that no reared bird can match.

Demand from the top London restaurants is intense in the opening weeks. To ensure CountryClubuk Members can enjoy the early birds, we must pre-order. We are therefore opening the registration list now.

The grouse will be supplied New York-dressed (head, feet and wings on) exactly as the professional kitchens require, then carefully prepared so they arrive oven-ready. A box of 10 is ideal for a larger dinner, for sharing, or for freezing a few birds to enjoy later. They travel well and make a memorable gift for a fellow grouse enthusiast.

Last year Members enjoyed these superb birds at a considerable advantage over the price paid through retailers. We expect the same exclusive terms this year.
