The sight of wild hares boxing in spring is magical, and this early morning spectacle of exuberance is captured by international wildlife sculptor Michael Simpson in a single, powerful limited edition bronze, simply entitled ‘Hare Boxing’.
Simpson has depicted his hare in mid-box, alone—with no other hare to divert the viewer’s gaze. As such, the focus is on the single hare, whose actions seem infinitely balletic and beautiful. This wild hare, caught in the middle of a battle for supremacy, seems to embody passion and strength, yet also vulnerability.
The sculptor knows his wildlife intimately. He has watched the wild hares in his home country, the Staffordshire Potteries, all his life. Here he has used his artistic eye and knowledge of Nature to capture the action and personality of his subject. The viewer just has to keep looking at this hare: from every angle, it is a delight.
The bronze stands 17.5cm high and weighs 550g. It is in a numbered limited edition of 150, and our Members enjoy a preferential price.
