To celebrate the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth, English ceramics designer William Edwards has followed tradition in creating a splendid set of porcelain. It is beautifully hand-decorated in 22-carat gold, and a worthy successor to the traditions of the sadly lamented great names of English porcelain.
William Edwards is now one of Britain’s leading ceramic designers—and of course one of the few remaining porcelain craftsmen still working in Stoke on Trent and continuing to use the traditional hand-decorating skills that have existed in Stoke for generations. Collectors of commemorative English bone china will be thrilled by this good news in an otherwise dark chapter for The Potteries.
The four pill (or trinket) boxes each feature pictures representing Darwin’s life work – the Origin of the Species.
