English tenor Alfie Boe’s meteoric rise to stardom is well known. Long fêted for his supreme tenor voice and stage presence, he is as acclaimed at the Royal Opera House as he is lauded in Les Miserables—wherever Alfie Boe is in the cast, the box office sells out. This world-renowned tenor and theatre star just keeps on thrilling audiences. His latest collaboration with the stunning lyric operatic soprano Danielle de Niese—she is ‘the most sought after singer on the planet’, according to the BBC—is highly anticipated.
Danielle de Niese has won the hearts of opera audiences from Covent Garden to Glyndebourne to the New York Met. She is more than just the most magnetic presence in modern classical music, or the woman described by the New York Times as ‘opera’s coolest soprano’. She’s also a performer with a unique combination of artistic credibility and 21st-century allure. An exotic mix of Sri Lankan, Scottish and Dutch parentage, she is hailed by the critics as, ‘A diva for the 21st century’, ‘A show stopper’, ‘A stage natural’, with the final accolade, ‘With De Niese around, not much else matters’.
The prospects are set fair for a thrilling evening, and with the full assembly of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of the international conductor Timothy Redmond, we can expect wonderful music, romance, and celebration of the best songs from the stage: iconic arias from Carmen and The Merry Widow, musicals including Les Miserables and West Side Story.
This inspirational concert will be made even more enjoyable by a Three-Course Champagne Dinner in the stylish 190 Queen’s Gate restaurant at the Gore Hotel, under the eagle eye of the talented Michelin Star French chef Daniel Galmiche. Classic cuisine with a contemporary British twist is the style created by Galmiche, who, when he is not creating delicious dishes in the restaurant is himself a regular culinary media star on BBC TV and more.
