The CountryClubuk Wine Cellar for the northern Loire Valley includes the great whites of Sancerre and Pouilly Fuissé. This is the contrasting region to the Rhône: the Rhône gives France its soothing, warming, satisfying, winter-weight wines. The Loire provides the summer drinking, the wide range of wines covering almost any gastronomic eventuality, offering Chenin Blancs, Muscadets, Pouilly Fumés, Pouilly Fuissés and Sancerres. Our Club Tasting Panel provide Members with their new selections each summer.

Quintessential Sancerre, as served at The Connaught: Grandmontains Laporte 2011: save £70 a case
Domaine Laporte is a small producer of high-quality, hand-crafted wines and one of the key names in the Sancerre region. This is quintessential Sancerre, with what Jancis Robinson refers to as ‘an attractive hint of gun smoke’. It is served in some of the country’s leading Michelin-starred restaurants.
