The fine wine deal of the decade: 2006 St-Emilion Grand Cru

A new and exciting Grand Cru Bordeaux has just arrived in the Club Wine Cellar—Château Teyssier, St Emilion Grand Cru 2006—at the amazing price of £159 per case, which at about £13 a bottle is well under market value and an absolute steal. It scores 90/100 from Robert Parker, it is rich and fruity with smooth tannins, and is perfect for drinking from now until 2015.

Parker’s assessment: ‘The 2006 is an outstanding success as well as a sleeper of the vintage. Its dark ruby colour is accompanied by plenty of black fruit, licorice, earth, and spice characteristics. It should drink nicely for 8-10 years.’

Teyssier is a 50-hectare vineyard in the heart of the appellation, next to the illustrious Château Angelus. It is extolled by the top wine connoisseurs, not least our Club Tasting Panel, who are delighted to welcome this wine to the Club Cellar at such an amazingly good price. Steven Spurrier. writing in Decanter, named Teyssier ‘easily of Grand Cru Classé quality'. According to Williamson & Moore's Wine Behind the Label, ‘Château Teyssier is one of two right bank "stellar cellars" (the other is the rather more expensive Ausone).’ The accolades continue.

Decanter (April 2007): ‘Sappy Merlot fruit, good grip and lots of vineyard depth, damson plums and elegant finish.’ Jancis Robinson: ‘Fresh nose. Dry finish but confident constitution. Racy, with very fine tannins on the finish.’ Neal Martin: ‘A deep black plum and wild strawberry nose with a touch of prune. Full-bodied with low acidity, quite fleshy and modern in style. Soft landing on the finish.’

Behind the wine are more illustrious names: vineyard manager is Robert Fortin (ex-Petit-Village, Pomerol), consulting oenologist is Gilles Pauquet (Cheval Blanc etc), and the winemaker is Jonathan Maltus assisted by Cyril Beziat. The team has steadily improved Teyssier, which must now rank as one of the greatest value Bordeaux available. According to Justerini & Brooks, ‘Château Teyssier is one of our perennial favourites. The 2006 is a particular success, a rich and racy merlot-rich blend that will please all palates. Cropped at 45hl/ha, and a blend of 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc, the 2006 is rich in cherry fruit with red berry softness, well constructed with ripe, smooth tannins, finely balanced and generous on the finish. Bravo!’ And so say all of us. We recommend that our Members order their cases now, as we expect it to be gone very soon.

Dreamy pure silk hand-painted dress

This gorgeous limited edition, hand-painted silk Hawaiian Island dress perfectly captures the season’s styles. Beautifully designed by Kimi in Hawaii, hand-painted by specialists in painting on silk, each dress is a unique and original work of art.

The scene depicts a dreamy watercolour painting of a tropical island, with a brilliantly plumed wild parrot amid the orchids and flowers of the forest. The design appears on both sides of the dress and along the batwing sleeves, and because each dress is hand-painted by an artist, no two are alike.

We love this designer dress. It is not only bright and beautiful—the perfect look for Summer according to Vogue—but original and elegant however you choose to wear it: as a simple dress, gorgeously loose and flowing to knee-length, leaving the unique painting to make its own statement; or belted at the waist for a figure-hugging, shorter look; or worn with leggings and tied at the hips with our new fabulous freshwater pearls for a stunning South Seas fashion effect.

It means you can reach for this dress on so many occasions, from a simple romantic dinner to a black tie occasion, and of course it is a must for holidays as it is so light and easy to pack. And because it is so soft and comfortable, you will want to wear it as often as possible. Very limited edition: each dress is a hand-painted original in pure silk. One size (looks great from 8 to 18). Code HD03CC04. Non-Members £285. CCUK £135. Order Hawaiian Island Silk Tropical Parrot Dress.

Snow Moons: pearl and gold earrings

Girls look beautiful in pearls, and these new Snow Moons pearl and 14ct gold earrings are a fabulously contemporary version of the classic 'girl with pearl earring'. Pure ladylike style, and a great pleasure to wear, they attract attention while reflecting charm and individual taste—which is why the Duchess of Cambridge was wearing this style at a recent Buckingham Palace Garden Party.

Classics, yet with a contemporary twist, they are incredibly versatile: perfect for occasions when simple pearl stud earrings are not quite enough and longer drops may be a little too much. Designed and hand made by our specialist pearl jeweller in Hawaii, the natural pearls are white and lustrous, and softly glow against the skin, making a woman look radiant.

They are certainly coolly beautiful, but more than this they are easy to wear with every style and colour, and look the part on all occasions, from lunch with friends to evenings at the ballet—and of course superior garden parties! They arrive in a smart presentation case and can be gift wrapped and sent with a card and message. Code PE03CC04. RRP £180. CCUK £89. Order Snow Moons Pearl and 14ct Gold Earrings.

Finest Bellota Gran Riserva Iberico ham

Our fresh supply of highly prized Iberico pata negra ham has just arrived. Like Beluga caviar or Kobe beef, this is one of the supreme luxuries of the food world, and our Bellota Gran Riserva Iberico is the ultimate. It is produced from long-legged blackfoot pigs which roam the Spanish oak forests all their lives (not just for the last few months, as with inferior hams), eating acorns (‘bellota’) and herbs which give the meat its luxuriously sweet, nutty flavour and that silky, melting texture; this ham is unsurpassed; once tasted, never forgotten.

Iberico pata negra is known as the meat connoisseur's ‘holy grail’. Serve thin slices of the dark ruby red ham at room temperature: it will literally melt and fill the palate with flavours. Furthermore, it is also extremely healthy. The acorn-infused flesh is not smoked or salted, but naturally air-cured—and our supplier produces the finest hams, cured for the longest period—three years—hence its superior designation of ‘Gran Riserva’.

The ham is low in salt and high in monounsaturated fat and oleic acid, which stimulates ‘good’ cholesterol and helps reduce ‘bad’ cholesterol. It is also low in calories: 100g contains 190 calories.

Despite all the health benefits, it is the taste and texture which make this ham so prized. If you are a gourmet, you will not be disappointed—and if you have never tried this ham before you will be amazed by the difference to ordinary ham.

Served on-the-bone it makes a dramatic, delicious yet very easily prepared centrepiece for a party. It goes beautifully with chilled melon or figs, with olives, avocado and mushrooms. But the finest way to eat it is at room temperature, alone, with good fresh bread and a glass of wine: sublime!

Our hams weigh approximately 7.5kg (1kg provides about 100 slices). Stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, an uncut ham will keep for a year. Bellota Gran Riserva Iberico Ham on the Bone, 7.5kg, with ham stand for carving. Code PN01WH01. RRP £425. CCUK £325. Free UK mainland delivery. Save £100. Order Bellota Gran Riserva Iberico Ham On The Bone, with free Ham Stand.

Smart pinstripes for summer in the city

So that a chap may continue to look sartorially elegant no matter how sultry the summer becomes, the Club's expert tailors have tailored a city suit that is perfect for the time of year. It is a fine wool navy pinstripe that is elegantly cut, hand tailored, hangs beautifully, looks made to measure, and feels so comfortable you will hardly know you are wearing it.

For any man who ever feels overheated, this is the coolest city suit around: it enables you to look irritatingly cool and manly while colleagues who are still wearing their normal weight wool suits are becoming increasingly hot and bothered. If you travel on business this is the suit to pack: it will just as easily maintain your poise in New York or Shanghai. Furthermore, the same suit sells in ‘Gentleman’s London’ for £400. Through the Club you save £200 of that, paying a mere £193, which for a suit of this quality is a snip.

The cut is elegant, the style single-breasted and the smooth, beautifully woven pure wool fabric a smart dark navy with a broad pinstripe and a shadow stripe in red: an especially debonair touch, since you do not notice the red but you do notice that the suit is ultra-smart, and somehow less predictable. Punctuate with a white shirt, slim tie, pocket handkerchief and a good pair of shoes, and be prepared to look coolly in command no matter how great the pressure.

Hand-stitched and supremely well tailored in ever detail, this suit is a classic two-button style, fully lined (more hand stitching on the smart claret satin lining), with side vents and all the usual exterior and interior pockets. Jacket sizes are 38-50in chest in regular and short fittings, 40-48in in long. Trousers are 32-46in waist in regular (32in) and short (30in), and 34-42in waist in long (34in). Code SS01MA01. RRP £350. CCUK £193. Order Pure Wool Tailored Navy Pinstripe Suit (320g).

If you would like a second pair of trousers to keep the suit fresh, the cost is an extra £50: Code SS02MA01. RRP £475. CCUK £243. Order Pure Wool Tailored Navy Pinstripe Suit with Two Pairs of Trousers.

Persian Bidjar rug: amazing deal at £198

Our Persian carpet specialist has just delivered our new collection of famous Bidjar rugs—known as ‘the Iron Rugs of Persia’. They are original, authentic, high quality and beautiful, and their colours are so harmonious they look good with any interior design scheme, and with antique and contemporary furniture.

Named after the weaving tribe or place where they are woven, each Persian carpet pattern, palette and weave is uniquely linked with the culture and weaving techniques of an area or tribe. Although the Kurdish town of Bidjar, which lies in one of the most fertile areas of northwest Iran, is small, the high quality of its carpets has gained it an international reputation.

Bidjar rugs are known for supreme strength and durability. The weavers still work in local villages, creating rugs by hand as they have done for generations. The Bidjar weavers use double knot construction to give the strong, raised pile that is a distinctive characteristic. They employ a special tool, not unlike a huge claw, to beat the weft strands together into the exceptionally compact foundation for the pile, which makes the rug extremely dense and heavy—probably the most hardwearing of any carpet in the world.

This densely packed pile is so tight that the pile cannot lay down, and because the fibres are constantly erect when you step on the rug, it has a cushioned feel that makes it wonderful to walk on. For this reason, and because the colour palette is so beautifully rich and jewel-toned, Bidjar rugs remain the classic floor covering for country houses and interior design settings.

Here we present a traditional handmade Bidjar rug made by a single weaver using quality, lustrous local wool, hand woven on cotton warps. It is double-knotted, 250 KPSI (the higher the number of knots, the better the quality) and classed as high quality. It has a traditional colour palette and a classical Bidjar medallion pattern. It measures 153cm x 90cm (about 5ft by 3ft). Strips along the long edges prevent curling. It is more than 20 years old, unused, and a very beautiful rug. There is one only, as each rug is an original.

Traditional hand-knotted Persian Bidjar Rug. Code BR22AR01. RRP £525. CCUK £198. Order Persian Bidjar Rug.

His most interesting vices, set in silver

These new sterling silver cufflinks, created in the Edwardian era, will add extra spice to your favourite man’s life. Four of his most interesting vices are framed within the ovals, all in the style of the 18th-century miniatures which the Edwardians enjoyed. They cannot fail to be noticed when he shoots his cuffs!

Wine and Women are linked together, naturally, a French can-can dancer vying with Champagne for his attention. The next tableau is on Gambling, portrayed firstly by a racehorse and then by three cards led by the queen of diamonds.

These charming old-style Edwardian cufflinks are well made, mounted in sterling silver, with a proper sterling silver chain link fastening that is the perfect length for a shirt with double cuffs. They arrive in a smart presentation case, making a gift that is not only useful but wicked fun. They are currently selling for £100 a pair in the London Silver Vaults, but our Members pay the advantageous price of a mere £25, including a smart presentation case and UK delivery.

Code VC03CC04. Non-Members £100. CCUK £25. Save £75. Free UK mainland delivery. Order Sterling Silver Edwardian-style Four Vices Cufflinks.

Saratoga Springs turquoise bracelet

This stylish new Saratoga Springs bracelet in turquoise and stainless steel really catches the eye. With its large, irregular, brilliant sky blue stones, it gives the perfect in-vogue chunky look. It is also a bracelet to wear all year round—as good for summer here and abroad as it is to cheer up a wintry day at home.

Turquoise jewellery is very chic—even the ancient Egyptian thought so, since they were wearing it in 3500 BC—and the simple Saratoga Springs design features four large drops of turquoise with their individual shapes and cobweb markings, the turquoise 'matrix', linked and finished with contemporary stainless steel. It looks lovely with summer whites and pastels, gorgeous with all shades of blue, and an ideal contrast to greens, yellows, purples, coral and of course black, making it an easy and versatile bracelet to wear any time, dressed up or down. It will arrive in a smart presentation case.

Code SB03CC04. RRP £65 excluding delivery. CCUK £33. Free UK delivery. Order Saratoga Springs Turquoise Bracelet.

Stunning diamond stud earrings: classic beauty for every occasion: save up to £1,800

Glittering diamond stud earrings which flash their 'white fire', beautifully set in 18ct white gold, are the classic diamond earrings which every woman desires. Our stunning diamond earrings are from Hatton Garden, made by skilled jewellers to highlight the beauty of the high-quality, brilliant-cut diamonds in their classical claw setting. These earrings are never out of style, always classically perfect. And because one can never go wrong with an all-time classic that is so obviously fabulous, they make the most beautiful gift.

The diamonds which our jeweller uses are among the finest grades in colour and clarity (F/VS). They are of a higher grade than those which most of the leading international 'big names' in diamonds habitually use. The F colour is very white—one of the three top 'collection' colours, and the whitest that exist anywhere—and the VS grade means they are flawless to the naked eye. This high-grade colour and clarity, and the beautiful brilliant cut, are what makes these diamond earrings flash their 'white fire'. When you see them, you will immediately know what we mean: we are very proud of them!

All our precious jewellery carries a full 100% moneyback guarantee and an insurance valuation certificate at the full retail value (not the Club price, which is always significantly lower). Each piece is fully hallmarked in England.

Finest Calvisius malossoll caviar at exclusively advantageous prices to Members

For Members who appreciate the finest fresh caviar, our supplier is London's top firm, founded in 1895 principally to bring fresh caviar to London. Through the Club, our Members not only have the best caviar, they also have the best wholesale prices.

Caviar has undergone a transformation in recent years. The search has been on to find the best farmed stocks to spare the wild sturgeon. The caviar which we and our caviar specialists believe to be the finest tasting (equivalent in flavour to Beluga, and in size to Oscietra) is fresh Italian Calvisius, which is from the white sturgeon.

With its large, 3mm dark to light brown eggs, Calvisius caviar is neither too oily nor bitter nor bland. It has the ‘pop’, the glistening grey colour and the buttery, nutty flavour of wild caviar. It is not Beluga—even the cleverest fish farmers have yet to succeed in rearing Beluga to maturity in captivity (they are prone to eating each other)—but it has outdone wild Beluga in blind tasting conditions. It has now become our Members' favourite caviar (which, as many Members are connoisseurs of caviar, is saying something!).

Calvisius—named after a Roman noble who, according to legend, reared sturgeon in ancient times—is ‘malossol caviar’, which means ‘with little salt’, made possible because the sturgeon roe is farmed year-round. This obviously makes it good for human health as well as that of the sturgeon. It is fresh, not pasteurised.

Please select the weight you require, and the caviar will be delivered fresh to your door on the date of your choosing. It makes a marvellous centrepiece for a special occasion, and at the Club price you can enjoy it a great deal more often ... it makes a most discerning gift for your favourite lover of caviar (which may of course be you!):

Who among us would not like to invite clients, colleagues, family, friends, bank manager or broker to share the pleasure? To book the bar or restaurant from 5.30pm on the above dates (neither of which is open to the public at any time), please call Member Services on 020 7399 2960 or click here to make a reservation.
