Dear CountryClubuk Member,

Royal Worcester: fine china at exclusive Club prices

Our new Club arrangement with Royal Worcester means that Members can order all patterns of this beautiful china at unbeatable prices, all year round. This prestigious company was founded in 1751, and emphasis was placed on craftsmanship from the start. The company made its first Royal dinner service in 1770, for the Duke of Gloucester, and by 1789 the work was held in such esteem that King George III bestowed his Royal Warrant.

To celebrate our partnership with this world-famous firm, we are highlighting the splendid Prince Regent bone china service, inspired by the original commissioned by the Prince in 1811. What a wedding gift it would make. Rich and exquisite, it combines cobalt blue and red, highlighted in 22-carat gold. To create a stunning table setting, mix the elegant narrow banded tableware with the lavishly decorated accent pieces. As one ceramic historian said, ‘Royal Worcester is one of the few enterprises where the traditional craftsmanship of the 18th century survives.’

Order in individual place settings or sets. For example, the Club price for a five-piece Prince Regent place setting (27cm plate, 20cm plate, 16cm plate, teacup and tea saucer), usually £123, is £85. The 20-piece starter set (four each of the 27cm and 16cm plates, 17cm soup or cereal bowls, teacups and saucers), usually £496, costs our Members £329. The 25-piece dinner service (six three-plate dinner settings plus oval serving dish, sauceboat and stand and two covered vegetable dishes) usually £1,020, costs only £575. To order any of the above, click here.

For all other Royal Worcester patterns, and for further details, please call Member Services on 020 7291 8600 or email your request.

At last, the perfect pure wool travel suit for gentlemen

We set out to find the perfect pure wool travel suit—and we think this is it. Designed to look good while travelling, without creasing too much, lightweight yet substantial and super-comfortable, you can wear it in warm weather or cool and even, incredibly, wash it. As you can tell, we are deeply impressed with its qualities.

The 290g pure wool cloth is specially woven to allow it to stretch just a little, resist creases, and even machine wash, without any added manmade, unmentionable fibres. It is quite smart enough for business travel or general city wear, and versatile enough to mix and match with slacks, pullovers, gilets or casual jackets for weekends.

The jacket is classic two-button, single-breasted with notched lapel, flapped and jetted straight-cut front pockets, breast pocket, four-button cuffs and side vents. The trousers are cut generously, with single waist pleat, belt loops, side pockets and buttoned rear pocket. Being pure wool, smart, washable and comfortable, they are ideal for everyday.

In dark navy (pictured) or dark charcoal. Jacket: Code TS01BB04. Sizes: regular (38-50in chest), short (38-48in chest) and long (38-48in chest). RRP £140. CCUK £98. Order. Trousers: Sizes: regular (32-46in waist), short (32-44in waist) or long (32-44in waist). One pair: Code TT01BB04. RRP £70. CCUK £49. Order. Two pairs (recommended to lengthen the life of a suit): Code TT02BB04. RRP £140. CCUK £89. Order.

Elegant pure amethyst and 18ct gold earrings, £135

The cut of the large amethyst stones in our new earrings turns them into a kaleidoscope of edgy lilac flashes as they catch the light at every turn. The offbeat modern setting, with its broad bands of 18ct yellow gold, is perfect, and the combination strikes a balance between new designer and classic.

Amethyst is a glorious stone, its colour reminiscent of summer evenings when lilac fills the sky.

Traditionally a symbol of sincerity, physicians have long used amethyst to aid temperance and relieve migraine. In Tibet, it is sacred to Buddha. Whatever the mystical claims, these amethyst earrings look divine.

The 18ct settings are fully hallmarked. The amethyst stones are about 9mm deep and the earrings are about 24mm in total length. Earrings of this quality and style cost a great deal more in smart London boutiques, making this an exceptional gift at such a good price you should really treat yourself! They arrive in a smart presentation case, and can be gift wrapped and sent with your message.

Code AE11JK02. RRP £235. CCUK £135. Order Amethyst Earrings.

Join our Champagne Reception at the House of Lords

Our CountryClubuk Champagne Charity Reception at the House of Lords this year is on Thursday, April 10, in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Members will be given a fascinating private tour of the Palace of Westminster prior to the Reception, which starts at 6.30pm (carriages at 8pm). Champagne, wine, soft drinks and hot and cold canapes will be served.

The RNLI relies solely on charitable fund-raising to carry out its work. We are directly supporting its new 'Train One, Save Many' appeal, and with our Members' help we aim to fund the training of an entire lifeboat crew — a total of £7,000. To help us achieve this aim, a local lifeboat crew will bring a lifeboat up the River Thames to the Palace of Westminster to give our Members a private display (subject to operational duties).

To reserve your tickets, which cost £75 per person, or to make a donation, click here or call Member Services on 020 7291 8600.

Super quilted gilet: our new El Snippo at £17 (save £31)

Our smart new quilted gilet could easily be the most useful buy you make all year. Essential to country life, it keeps you warm without adding bulk, repels wind and rain, is light and easy to wear for everything from riding out to working dogs, country walks, gardening or a day's rough shooting or fishing. And of course it adds an extra warm layer under your jacket whenever spring turns back into winter, as it has this Easter.

Our gilet is very well made and has just the right amount of padding. It has two front pockets, a soft cord collar, storm throat tab and rear vents for riding and driving. The ladies’ style is flatteringly waisted, and comes in sizes 8 to 18. It looks very good with denims, trousers and skirts, everywhere from Sloane Square to a horse trial or race meeting. The men’s style is smart and practical—straight cut, in sizes XS to XXL.

Olive green or royal blue. Machine washable and quick-drying.
Ladies’ gilet: Code QG01CC04. RRP £48. CCUK £17. Order ladies' gilet.
Men’s gilet: Code QG02CC04. RRP £48. CCUK £17. Order men's gilet.

The quintessential Italian silk scarf for sporting ladies

Our new Italian silk scarf from the Mantero VIII Spring Collection is the quintessential scarf for lady Guns. It is designed and made in Italy from the most beautiful silk, the edges rolled and finished in the classic manner.

It looks expensive and graceful. Examine it closely and you will see hunting horns woven within the silk—a distinguished touch. But it is not only the high quality but the evocative duck flighting scene which really sets this scarf apart.

Two setters are working in the lower left-hand corner, among rushes at the edge of the flight pond. Several species of duck are paddling among the reeds and water lilies, with a flock of mallard in flight over the water.

The picture is surrounded by a plain border in green, red, sand or black. The many country colours—blue water, brown rushes, green leaves and cloudy grey sky—make the scarf very versatile, adding the finishing touch to a great many outfits, not only out shooting or in the country. It looks equally good in Bond Street, and particularly lovely with plain black, brown, cream, camel, blues, reds and greens.

The scarf is approximately 3ft square (90cm) and will arrive in a smart presentation sleeve, making an original and tasteful present. Code DS02CC04. Non-Members £100. CCUK £75. Order Flighting Scarf.

The city is fascinating and entertaining—and our club there, the Royal Scots Club, is a refined, relaxing, friendly and central place to stay.

To celebrate all these good things we not only have great rates for our Members, but a free draw to win a weekend for two.

The Royal Scots Club is already a favourite with our Members. It stands in one of Edinburgh’s finest Georgian streets, Abercromby Place, and combines country-house charm and warm hospitality with excellent personal service in a top-notch location near many of the attractions. The rooms are large, some with spectacular views of the Firth of Forth. The food is delicious.

Don't miss this unique chance to walk the Grand National course with a leading trainer

For the most memorable day's racing you could find, join our Club party walking the Aintree course with Ian Balding, former trainer to HM The Queen. This is a unique opportunity for all who admire steeplechasing. And the day-long, Champagne-filled party will also be memorable!

Our party takes place on Fox Hunters Day of the Grand National Meeting (Thursday, April 3). As Ian says, ‘The Fox Hunters is the most prestigious race there is for Amateurs. There are always plenty of runners and a certain amount of carnage can be expected, as the Amateurs tend to set off rather too fast for their own good ... ’

We walk the course at 11am. The rest of the day is a CountryClubuk house party at the races. Our headquarters are in the superb Corbiere Suite, three floors up in the Lord Sefton stand, overlooking the finish and giving an unrivalled view. Members enjoy a Champagne reception, four-course luncheon with wines, unlimited complimentary bar (exc Champagne), morning coffee, afternoon tea, private Tote facility, racecard, reserved car parking, daily and sporting newspapers.

The day costs just £279 plus VAT. Friends and family are also invited. Reserve badges now by calling Member Services on 020 7291 8600.
