‘Our favourite of your Free Breaks Portfolio is Gisbrough Hall in North Yorkshire. Its location, food, accommodation and wonderful staff are all excellent. We were wonderfully impressed also with the Langrish House in Hampshire; it is in a good location, but its outstanding features are the food and staff. The variety, standard of cuisine and attentive staff is impressive and we were thoroughly delighted. Another outstanding hotel is Washbourne Court in Gloucestershire. ‘Thank you, CountryClubuk and the Blackaddie House Hotel at Sanquhar, for what turned out to be an exceptional prize of a night’s accommodation, including dinner and breakfast. We are familiar with the lower part of Nithsdale, but have rarely ventured as far up Upper Nithsdale as Sanquhar. It was therefore an added pleasure to discover the Blackaddie House so close to our regular haunts. The hotel is comfortable and is in the process of being
gradually refurbished to a very high standard. The dinner was, to put it simply, outstandingly good. The food is backed up by a well-chosen selection of wines. It would have been memorable anywhere, but in the surroundings of Nithsdale, it was unbeatable. It was easy to see why Ian McAndrew had been awarded a Michelin star in one of his earlier endeavours. We were made to feel very welcome, and we will definitely be returning. We would recommend the Blackaddie House, without any ifs, buts or maybes, to anyone who is looking for comfort, service and exceptional food in an attractive and very interesting corner of Scotland.’ June 2009

On Saturday 27/05, my wife and I attended
a wedding in Warwick Street with reception at the RA
on Burlington Gdns. This made the Fox an ideal location
and it added to the enjoyment of the weekend. It was
my first visit to the club and it won't be the last
as it is a most charming place, with lovely rooms and
a real cosy feel about it. It was so much nicer than
staying in the usual branded places like The Hilton.
The lady on reception was excellent and looked after

superb food. Bearing in mind it was 32°C at 7pm,
the rooftop swimming pool was a godsend too! One thing

dinner. In our experience when a meal is included it’s
from a restricted menu and things like aperitifs and
coffee are extra, which is fair do's. Not at the Urban
– we had the full menu to select from (I could
have had the caviar) and the champagne beforehand was
