Take a Champagne break in the beautiful city of York
York is one of the most fascinating and beautiful cities in England, and we have a new and exclusive deal for our Members, staying at one of the City's favourite hidden gem hotels, the Mount Royale at an exclusive Members-only rate.
York is a diminutive city, easy to meander around. Its limestone walls and narrow arched gates, cobbled streets and snickelways, churches and castles, townhouses and guildhalls, rivers and bridges, together create a unique atmosphere of antiquity and pomp, certainly, but on an intimate, human scale. York was, and still is, a city for people who like to stroll.
The joy lies in the details: the walls on which you can walk for miles, with superb views over the city; the narrow cobbled streets of Shambles; the King’s Manor, where Charles I held court; the Jorvik centre, reliving York's Viking past. And, of course, towering over all else, the Minster, one of the world’s most famous cathedrals, a showpiece of English architectural styles and ecclesiastical grandeur.
We have a new deal for our Members at the Mount Royale, an hotel ranked as one of the best in York, a privately-owned hidden gem where the quality is top-notch: the rooms, the food, service, staff, location—and our Club rate.
Members enjoy an exclusive two-night break for two, including the excellent three-course à la carte dinner, bedroom and full English breakfast, with an upgrade to an Executive room plus a bottle of Champagne and a VIP welcome pack. Our Club rate is £350 for the full two-night stay for two, and all of the above, including VAT, instead of the usual rate of £460. The Dorchester's Coworth Park, Windsor Great Park
Reviewed by Francis Fulford
Everybody has heard of the Dorchester Hotel. Most also know that it is to the world of hotels what Manchester United or Arsenal are to football or the Brigade of Guards to the military. What few people know is that it has set up an outstation hotel on the edge of Windsor Great Park near Ascot, named Coworth Park; it is a ‘white wedding cake’ classical building set in 240 acres of picturesque landscape.
In such a setting and at such a location it is hardly to be wondered at that the management have majored in equestrian attractions. Coworth Park boasts its own polo ground and stabling for up to 30 polo ponies. It has six horses for guests who wish to ride around the grounds or explore the neighbouring 1,000 acres of Windsor Great Park, including a top-of-the-range dressage horse—so if you have always fantasised about what it would be like to ride such a horse then come to Coworth Park and let your fantasy come true. In fact, hotels such as Coworth Park are all about fantasy, at least for most of us—but then one of our jobs at CountryClubuk is to help you live out your fantasies at an affordable cost. Coworth Park also has spare stables and you can take your own horse to stay with you—a facility which few hotels provide.
No modern five-star establishment is now complete without a Spa and fitness centre. It goes without saying that here they have attempted, and as far as I can see succeeded, in building the Spa to end all Spas. You may think, as I admit I still do, that Spas are for girls while the boys play golf or polo. Well, not at Coworth Park. Here the boys are far from excluded; for example, you can enjoy ‘ … a deep cleansing signature facial specially designed to suit the needs of men … ’ or a special men’s manicure during which ‘the arms and hands are exfoliated and massaged and cuticles nourished with oils … ’ and if you understood any of that then you are probably a candidate for a bit of ‘spa treatment’. If you didn’t, like me, you might be better off pottering down the road and enjoying a round of golf at Wentworth.

Roxburghe Hotel & Championship Golf Course
The Roxburghe Hotel & Golf Course, owned by the Duke of Roxburghe, ranks as one of Scotland’s finest country-house hotels. It is set among mature woodland and rolling parkland on the banks of the River Teviot, which flows into the famous salmon river, Tweed, a few miles farther down.
The area is home to many great estates, but none greater than the Duke of Roxburghe’s at Floors Castle, which is the largest inhabited house in Scotland. The Tweed runs through this estate and offers fabulous fishing on the two best-known beats, Upper and Lower Floors. All who book fishing on these famous beats also stay at the Duke's hotel.
Guests are treated to unparalleled levels of luxury and comfort in the 22 bedrooms, some of which have four-poster beds and open fireplaces. The food is of the highest quality.
The hotel is also home to the 18-hole Roxburghe Golf Course, designed by ex-Ryder Cup player Dave Thomas. The course is ranked fifth best inland course in Scotland, and is in the top 100 courses in Britain and Ireland. Colin Montgomerie called it ‘a pleasure to play for professional and amateur alike’.
Country Hotel: Our Members receive a special year-round rate at this superb hotel. We also have exclusive opportunity to book Rods for the 2013 season on Upper and Lower Floors, giving us early priority access to the best fishing. DETAILS |
